1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:

Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki
as a tool in healing.  If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us,
otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.

Cleansing
After taking my First Degree Reiki training those 21 days of cleansing were intense. I felt
like the floor had fallen from beneath me and I had nothing to hold on to but I held on
anyway. Life has continued to get better and more wonderful since then. I talked my
doctor into supervising my withdrawal from all MEDICATION including the Dilantin for
SEIZURES. I have Reiki'ed myself to wellness. I am so grateful.

Muscle Strain
As an avid athlete in all sports (racquetball and running weekly), I have my share of
MUSCLE STRAIN and FATIGUE. Being a Reiki practitioner helps reduce the PAIN of
muscle stress and cuts the RECOVERY TIME of these workouts in half. I was recently
INJURED playing racquetball when my husband fired a forehand into the back of my leg.
Fast Reiki treatment relieved the PAIN and SWELLING that night, and the BRUISING was
gone in a week. Candace Agustin..... Puhi, Hawaii

Staying Calm
Reiki is playing a big part in my life - if I am in the way of people's anger after my initial
desire to retaliate in like manner, I calm down and send them Reiki. In due course, I'm
sure I will be able to use my time on this wonderful gift - or should I say this wonderful gift
will use me to do positive things. It has made me realise that at the heart of everything is
spirituality and that I have to base my life on that before anything else. As I've heard from
my own Maori culture - first of all is the spiritual side - tuatahi ko te taha wairua.

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:

Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.Remember if there
are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki.  One
suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific
request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

No new requests were submitted this month...but please include the following in your daily
thoughts, prayers, long distance requests...

For Each of Us...
That we may work from the highest vibrational level possible, in a state of inner peace and
balance...we ask to remember to live our life fully... contributing to our own growth, and
sharing our lives with those we come in contact with, that they may feel and experience
the gifts we have...and to be open to receive the love and gifts from others, in whatever
form they may come into our lives.

For Our Friends, Relatives, and Neighbors...
To send healing thoughts and love to those we know, those we know of, and those we
hear about who may be experiencing life challenges, whether physical, mental, emotional
or spiritual...that these challenges may be resolved easily, smoothly, and quickly, for the
highest good of all involved.

For Our Community...
That each of us, in our own separate communities,  begin to reconnect on a deeper level
to love, support, and empower each other...to be able to look beyond the many faceted
surface differences and instead look to the many faceted ways we are
connected....change is upon us and we are in the process of restructuring on so many
levels...local community will be an very important factor.

For Our Country...
To send pure unconditional love to those in positions of authority in our country...whether
it be government, business or various organizations, that have great influence over the
lives of people...that they will awaken to the higher calling of what needs to be done to
secure a happy, healthy and abundant life for all regardless of form or circumstance.  To
also recognize that we are all equal in spirit, connected and coming from the same
source...and to live life according to this understanding..

For Our Earth....
That we may all, working first from our inner levels, expand our energies outward through
Mother Earth, to help with the rebirthing process of form and function, as we work through
the ascension process...where all consciousness is respected and revered for what
contributions can be made to bringing in the New Earth energies.

This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long
Distance Reiki, email it to
seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long
Distance Reiki
3. Q & A

QUESTION:
I have not attended a Reiki share before, could you talk a little bit about what a share is
like?

ANSWER:
Good question! A reiki share can be a more formal gathering of practitioners who may or
may not know each other, or an informal gathering of reiki friends who wish to work with
each other.  It provides a venue for individuals to work together and to receive treatments.

After taking a  Reiki class, many practitioners are interested in the opportunity to practice
and hone their skills. Without receiving feedback from others, it may be difficult to build
self-confidence to a level where you are totally comfortable with yourself as a practitioner.
Practical hands-on experience  where you accept without scepticism, is what can really
assist you in developing your abilities.

Another problem that occurs is that unless you can practice on others, it is difficult to
develop your own system of assessment. It takes time to recognize or identify indicators of
mind-body-soul imbalance for these relate to each practitioner in a very individualistic
manner. You also need continued practice in order to form your own personal
communication dialogue technique, between you and your client, in order to reveal your
findings or to suggest a proper course of action and follow-up treatment plan.

Through practice, you develop focused intention, plus you increase the amount of Reiki
or universal energy channelled through you to others. The more you practice Reiki, the
stronger your connection is to the universal source. Most practitioners require time to
fine-tune and strengthen their grounding, protection, cleansing and scanning techniques
or to learn when to use the symbols to consciously direct energy. It also takes
considerable time to build an inner awareness for determining subtle energies and what
they may personally mean to you.

At Seeds for Change, right now a monthly morning Reiki Share is offered, the first
Wednesday of the month, that begins at 9:30 AM.  Depending on the number of people
attending, each participant receives between a 20- 30 minute Reiki session.  If we have
time,  a group meditation and discussion may be included.  A donation of $5 is asked to
help cover some of our operating costs.

For anyone who has not attended a share it is a great place to meet others who are also
into Reiki as well as receive a regular session for yourself from another individual.

6. Recommendations:
This recommendation is not in regard to reading a book, journal or audio program but is
in reference to doing some volunteer Reiki work!

Reiki is such a wonderful modality!  It fills me in ways that I have not experienced from
other techniques, modalities, or experiences.  It may not be this way for everyone...we
each have our unique signature in this life, so we are drawn to different things with
varying degrees of passion.  But if this is your passion, I suggest doing some volunteer
Reiki.  Volunteer reiki can be done on people, animals, situations, etc.  Select an area you
are comfortable with and look for opportunities to be of service.

The Huna Prayer for Lightworkers
The following is a Huna prayer channeled from Djwhal Khul for the manifestation of
Abundance for the Lightworkers on the planet. It is quite powerful and I suggest you share
it with the spiritual communities you are involved in as well as using it for yourself. It was
suggested by Djwhal that you say this prayer once a day for thirty days to clear blocks
and manifest your divine inheritance of full abundance on all levels so you can do the
service work you came here to do.

7.  Working with Others:

Once You Have Completed Level I
Author: Margaret Jang

If you have been inspired to study the art of Reiki healing - congratulations!

Well done.....you should be proud for having the desire and the motivation to educate
yourself. You should also take pride for maintaining an open awareness that there exists
a greater power source than what is seen by the naked eye. Pat yourself on the back for
acknowledging the fact that you are a healer and that you have the capacity to heal
yourself or others.

By completing Reiki Level 1, your memory has been tweaked, in which you have been
reminded what your soul already knows.

You are now aware that Reiki Level 1 is all about self-healing and as you practice, you will
sense universal life-force energy. But it is not enough just to learn the techniques; you
also need to utilize them on a daily basis. As with any worthwhile goal that you wish to
achieve, it takes discipline, hard work and determination, plus a clear focus of intention to
successfully attain your desired fulfillment.

Too often students are gung-ho about learning new knowledge, but then they fail to
incorporate this knowledge into their daily lives. Of course with busy schedules and
life-styles, sometimes it is very difficult to adjust or regulate this in order to experience the
full benefit for using Reiki on a daily basis.

However, after completing Reiki Level 1, it is important to implement a set structure for
practicing what you have learned, otherwise you risk forgetting the acquired knowledge. It
is all too easy to placate yourself by assuring that you will.... "do it tomorrow", but in truth,
this mindset usually fails. And really, who are you kidding?

The one great benefit of Reiki Level 1 is that it teaches you how to heal yourself, creating
balance between your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Without healing
yourself first, you really shouldn't attempt to heal others, although many still do. But if you
think about it, I'm sure that you will agree that it is very important to clear your own mental
clutter or emotional baggage before trying to help or heal others. Why would you want to
complicate or upset your own delicate state with other people's problems until you are
mentally, emotionally or physically strong enough to assimilate any additional pressure?

So in order to allow Reiki Level 1 to benefit you significantly, be vigilant about establishing
a daily routine in which you practice on yourself, whether you are feeling healthy or not.
This will give you training for doing hand placements, which will in turn boost your
confidence level. After awhile, you won't have to think about what the next step is or dither
about whether you are doing it right or wrong for it will become a natural habit. It will also
cleanse, balance and harmonize the energies within your four bodies (or levels) by
eliminating energy blockages, impurities or toxins to allow energy to flow freely throughout
your system. As well, it will enhance and strengthen your soul's connection to the
universal life-force or to the spiritual level. A natural occurrence that comes with daily
practice is that you may start to receive messages, inspirations or see visions and this just
confirms that your connection to the universal life-force is indeed intensifying.

It is your choice as to how you wish to practice on yourself, but the following method is a
compact version (which should be done daily), where you only concentrate on the upper
half of your body, but your focus and intention is that the Reiki energy will flow throughout
your entire body. Choose a convenient, quiet time, either upon awakening or before going
to sleep or perhaps during meditation time.

This method will take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on how long you leave
your hands on each area. You will do nine Reiki self-treatment hand placements starting
from over your eyes and progressing to cheeks, crown, back of head (pressing your
thumbs into your occipital ridge), throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and root chakras.
Visualize and feel the warmth from the universal white light penetrate your crown chakra
and then flow to your heart chakra, but keep in mind that the Reiki energy will flow to
where it is most needed. Breathe slowly and deeply allowing the Reiki energy to fill and
disperse throughout your body, as well as ground you to earth and universal energies.
Allow your hands to remain in place from 2 to 5 minutes or as your intuition indicates. This
is also an excellent time to recite the five Reiki principles or precepts so that they will
become thoroughly ingrained into your subconscious mind.

Finish your routine by closing and balancing your chakras using the laddering technique
or use a method you are already comfortable with. For those who are unfamiliar with the
laddering method, simply follow these steps......

1. Start by placing one hand on your root chakra, while placing the other hand on your
sacral chakra - leave for 30-seconds

2. Take your hand off your root chakra and place it on your solar plexus; your other hand
remains on your sacral chakra - leave for 30-seconds

3. Take your hand off your sacral chakra and place it on your heart chakra; your other
hand remains on your solar plexus chakra - leave for 30-seconds

4. Take your hand off your solar plexus chakra and place it on your throat chakra; your
other hand remains on your heart chakra - leave for 30-seconds

5. Take your hand off your throat chakra and place it on your 3rd eye chakra; your other
hand remains on your heart chakra (your heart chakra is the dividing point that connects
your physical being to the spiritual realm) - leave for 30-seconds

6. Take your hand off your 3rd eye chakra and place it on your crown chakra; your other
hand remains on your heart chakra - leave for 30-seconds

7. As you place your hands on each chakra, your intention is to close each chakra, like
flower petals closing up, but leave a small opening in the centre to allow energy to still
flow. Visualize universal light penetrating; feel its warmth

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to do the hand placements. What is essential is
that you do them on a regular basis, not just once in a blue moon.

Although it is important to practice the Reiki hand placements, it is also advisable to
practice energy breathing techniques, which will ground you, strengthen your ability to
draw in universal life-force or Reiki energy, accelerate the removal of toxins, plus deliver
more oxygen and nutrients throughout your body. I have outlined energy breathing
exercises in my posted article entitled, "If you Experience a Loss of Energy after Giving a
Reiki Treatment." Also, it is important to journalize in a diary your daily experiences, which
will help you to track energy shifts, as well as your personal growth pattern and your
spiritual growth pattern.

Once you complete Reiki Level 1, you have the ability not only to heal yourself, but to
heal others or to heal animals as well. However, to repeat myself once more - please take
the time and make the effort to heal yourself first. This is not wasted time and the benefits
that empower you will be well worth any inconveniences.

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 30:  Make a Success List
When we are feeling low in self-esteem it is difficult to like anything about ourselves.
When we are caught in a negative spiral of:

self-dislike--> feelings of powerlessness--> inability to make decisions -->
inability to act--> self-dislike

There is away to stop the rot. People who come for counseling often say how much they
hate themselves. If I ask them to tell me about any positive things that they have
experienced in their lives they find it very difficult to begin.

One way to lift ourselves out of this negative cycle is to think about what we have done
well in the past. Maybe things don't look so good now, but what sort of achievements have
we already made in our lives?  I ask people to make a "success list".

This is a list of everything you are successful at, or have done successfully at some time
in your life.  Include all areas of your file: relationships, work, leisure.  Write down
everything that is meaningful to you, even if it might not be to someone else.

Your list may start small, but the more you think about the more you will remember your
accomplishments. What about coming first in the sack race on Sports Day? Do you
remember learning to ride a bike?  You will certainly remember having a baby! How about
getting your first job? Going on your first date? Starting school? Passing your driving test?

Go back as far as you can, make a fun thing of it, get a really big piece of paper and keep
adding to the list. Memories of success will change your mood. Look at your list, what an
incredible set of experiences! You see, you aren't powerless, helpless and indecisive after
all---you are a SUCCESS!
