1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:

Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki
as a tool in healing.  If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us,
otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.

African Violets Restored
I have an Asian violet plant I got a month ago (late June) which I never got around to
watering much. Well last night (July 30) I decided I better just throw it away as most of the
leaves were brown and ALL  the purple flowers were dried out and dead. Then I
remembered that in  Susan's  Reiki 1 class,  we potenized a bottle of water (which I still
have from almost a year ago). I decided to replant the violet in some potting soil in a
planter outside. I gave it some water and then sprinkled some potenized water on it  as
well. This morning on July 31st, I went outside to check on the plant and the leaves were
lush and green and there are new purple flowers blooming! This plant was virtually dead
and it just shows how amazing and powerful Reiki can be.

Who Saved Cock Robin?
Yesterday Laya ( our little dog) caught a Robin........I thought it was dead, it lay motionless
in my hand, tiny feet curled up in to it's belly.......... I laid it in my left hand, covered it with
the right, and asked Reiki for help..........instantly my hands became SO hot.............and I
started walking up the garden, behind the chalets, to bring the little bird to a safe place,
where it could lie and either die in peace, if that was it's destiny this day, or live.
As I walked up, I used the blowing technique then peeped into my hands, and it lay there
still motionless, the very next thing was that I felt an ever so slight stirring, I peeped in
again, and it looked at me. I was nearly up the hill............I looked in again, it looked at me,
still not moving...........I thought "oh , please live!"....., and laid it down on a pile of freshly
cut grass..........again it looked at me, next instant it shook itself and flew away..............
The amount of feathers I found inside, would normally have told me that that little bird
couldn't have survived. I firmly believe the power of Reiki brought it back to strength;
enough to enjoy it's life another wee while !

Aching Joints
Before I attuned my mother, she said she was reluctant to ask my wife or myself for Reiki
treatments as she knew how busy we were. And she didn't want to go to the homeopath
more than once a month because of the cost. At 74 she leads an active life, but her
aching joints and bones made her feel tired and depressed. After the attunement she did
self-Reiki every day and whenever she had aches and pains and she says Reiki has just
taken away that sense of powerlessness that she used to feel. I attuned my children aged
8 and 10 and it's calmed them down and allowed them to take more charge of their health.
Reiki continues to surprise me as I develop with it.

Reiki Helps Clear Anger
Reiki has open my eyes in so many ways. The one true story I would like to share, I had
so much anger stored up inside of me that when I would talk to people the words that
came out were so harsh that I would hurt their feelings and not mean to. Once my chakras
were cleared, I was able to release these bad feelings. With Reiki I am such an easier
person to be around. I had no idea how nasty I could be. Reiki has helped me be a better
person.

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:

Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.Remember if there
are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki.  One
suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific
request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

REQUEST Submitted by Susan
Phillip Dezzi, Charlotte, NC...please send Long Distance Reiki or add my cousin Phillip to
your prayer list.  He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Thyroid cancer.  He has had surgery and
now is receiving radiation treatment. Also keep his wife Wanda and daughter Christa in
your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you!

REQUEST Submitted by Pam F-R
Pam received this request from a friend and asked that it be placed on our list:
Please remember Mr. Kobi, my chocolate lab, in your prayers.  He has been having
trouble over the past few weeks with his eyes, and in the last week he has really gone
downhill.  I took him to the vet thinking it might be cataracts, but she said it is Progressive
Retinal Degeneration.  There are several types, but she believes it is something called
SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome).  SARDS is a condition seen
in dogs which results in complete vision loss over a few days to a few weeks.  The cause
is unknown and there is no cure.  It is currently thought that it is a toxic reaction in the
retina possibly related to hormones or immunity.  I have an appointment with a vet
ophthalmologist in early August, so we should find out a definitive answer then.  Anyway,
please keep my Kobi in your thoughts and prayers since his sudden vision loss is
confusing and I'm sure scary. It sure is to me.

REQUEST Submitted by Lynne Y
Please keep Gene Melbourne,  from Maryland,  who recently passed away from cancer in
your prayers. Also it would be greatly appreciated if you could add his wife Linda to your
prayer list to help her through this challenging time.  Thanks!

This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long
Distance Reiki, email it to
seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long
Distance Reiki
3. Q & A

QUESTION:
Can you talk about Reiki and incorporating other modalities into a session?

ANSWER:
Good question, but there is no simple answer.  There are as many ways to incorporate
other types of energy work or techniques into a session, as you can possibly imagine...
Each session is unique to both the individual as well as their circumstances of the day.
In answering this question, I will address many different thoughts that are racing through
my mind now, which I can feel right now, are going to make this answer, fairly long.

Holistic Perspective
It is important no matter what is done, to look at the person who is desiring a Reiki session
from a holistic perspective...meaning what is going on physically, emotionally, mentally,
and spiritually (referred to as PEMS). Only focusing on one aspect can lead to missing
several important pieces that may provide insights for the client as to what is creating the
imbalance they are experiencing. Just like putting a jigsaw puzzle together, when a
particular piece is missing, the final result, is incomplete.

My personal feeling about what is missing in the allopathic tradition while administering to
their patients is they disregard this vital bit of information.  At times, with some medical
practitioners, in order to achieve quick results, in order to see as many patients as can be
seen in any given day, a band-aid approach is often used. By this I mean, eliminate the
symptoms, but forgo the search for the cause of the symptoms appearance in the first
place. What might have started out as a rather simple situation, that could be resolved by
working on all levels, may balloon into a much bigger problem down the road., even
though the initial symptoms have disappeared... I am not suggesting that Reiki or any
other energy healing modality take the place of traditional medical care, I am just talking
about approach to treatment, and how different the results can be if one looks from a
holistic multi-dimensional perspective.

Protocol
Each Reiki/Energy practitioner will develop their own protocol they feel comfortable with
that works for them.  I can not stress this enough---there is not one way---there is not one
technique ---there is not one person who is more effective or  more powerful based solely
on what they are doing in terms of procedure.  It is about learning where your personal
gifts lie, then working to make those gifts the best they can be.

The Laundry List of Techniques
Some times as practitioners and energy workers, we can get caught up in the "I need to
learn every new technique out there" syndrome.  The list of modalities we take can fill a
book of information we present to others.  As a collective group, I think we have been
known to run after the latest miracle cure, technique, method, etc.  Lets take a moment
now and think about this...is it because we are not confident in our ability?  Is this because
we don't want someone else to have a longer laundry list of initials and modalities then we
do?  When we do this, do we truly become "wise in the ways"? Meaning, is our ability
purely surface level or does it run deep? There is a distinction between becoming
stagnant, stuck in our ways...vs stepping into...developing and  being with our
abilities.....vs wanting abilities... So in continuing that thought, let us each ask ourselves
the question--- Where am I?

Reiki, plain and simple, performed with a clear focus and intention, to channel the energy
is very powerful.  Yet we often find ourselves including other methods, and this is ok, as
long as we remember it is about helping the individual help themself...to heal...to
rebalance...to learn something about themselves...to empower them.  It should NEVER BE
ABOUT US and our perceived ability as a healer....that my friends, is our ego trying to
stand front and center, wanting or needing applause and recognition.

As a practitioner, if we have helped the individual empower their own healing ability, we
have done our job. So now with all that being said, I'll get on with incorporating other
techniques into a session.

There are several options I may think about based on what a person is looking to achieve
and as I stated earlier, where they are currently (PEMS).  Here are the additional
techniques I use, for what purpose, and when:

Dowsing:  Once the client is laying on the massage table, before Reiki is started, I always
dowse, using a pendulum.  I will check the energy centers (chakras) as well as other
stress points on the body, such as shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. This will give an
indication as to how the energy is flowing through these areas before a session.  After a
session is over, I will also take another look to see if there are any changes. I will share
with the individual the pendulum reading, and what generally is symbolic of each of those
areas.  This is done to provide the client with information, should they wish to explore after
a session, on a deeper level.

Flower Essence Testing: On occasion, before a session begins, I will test, through
dowsing, flower essences for a client. If the client is very visibly emotionally upset, or have
come in with an issue that appears to be deeply rooted that they wish to work on, I will
suggest flower essence testing.  I use a combination of the Bach Flower Essences and
have a select grouping of
Perelandra Flower Essences.

Stones & Crystals:  Often I incorporate a stone and crystal layout into a session.  There
are a variety of directions one can go with this technique, which are too numerous to
mention here.  Again, the choice of  stones and crystals would be based on where the
client is currently, and where they would be placed either around or on the body is also
dependent on their current needs.

Guided Visualization:  At the beginning of a session, I will use guided visualization to
help relax the client.  This is created for the particular individual and the intention they
have for their session.  As one works regularly with guided imagery, this comes easily,
and you are able to create the perfect visualization for their needs.  It is a powerful tool to
also help individuals take an active role in their healing session.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique): Sometimes strong emotions or memories can
surface during a session, that will cause the floodgates of releases to open all at once
overwhelming the individual.  If this occurs and it appears that it is too much for them to
handle all at once, I will incorporate a few rounds of EFT into a session, which quickly
brings the emotions back into a more balanced state that is easier for the person to deal
with.

As you can see there are many ways to bring other techniques into a session.  These are
just a few that I may use, depending upon an individual's needs.  As I stated earlier, each
practitioner, will in time, find their areas of focus and will develop these abilities and gifts in
a unique way that will be most beneficial to their clients.
4.  What's New?

New Center Location  158 Green Street, Silverdale, PA 18963
We are in full swing now at our new location, even though we have a few remaining details
to add into the decor...I like to think of it as a work in progress...but regardless, it is a
warm, wonderfully homey environment.  We hope you will get a chance to stop by for a
class, workshop or session.
All hours are by appointment.

Summer Activities:
It has been a hectic summer and the beginning of fall is gearing up to be a busy season
as well.  Scott and I watched as proud parent, as our oldest daughter Katelynn graduated
from High School this past June.  She is getting ready to leave for college in a few weeks,
so we are busy with final preparations, helping her plan for this new step in her life.  Our
youngest, Jenna will be a sophmore this year, so we will have a few more years before
having to deal with being empty nesters.

In September, Scott and I will be going to Holland and Germany with Katharina Spurling to
teach a workshop on Geopathic Stress and an introduction to the Light Life Technology.
Also, we are looking into the possibility of holding a workshop weekend more locally in
Pennsylvania sometime in October.  We will keep you posted, as several people have
indicated interest in training.

The past month I have been working to shift some of the space at Seeds for Change.
Using the front portion of the office area, I am converting it into a small metaphysical
shoppe.  We will be carrying gift items, jewelry, incense, ear candles, stones and crystals,
dowsing supplies, used books, and the Spurling Healing Tools, in addition to other items.
I am looking to open the shoppe officially after we return from Europe.  So, we will keep
you posted about this as well.

Because there is so much on my plate at this time, I will not have the amount of time I
usually have to devote to putting together this newsletter and the general one to the
degree I prefer and in the coming months it will most likely be a very abbreviated version.
Anyone who can assist by submitting recommendations, stories, etc, would help in
maintaining this newsletter so it can keep going.

7.  Working with Others:
Angel Healing   Source

What is Angel Healing?
You are surrounded by loving and powerful angels who want to assist you in every area of
your life. It is no coincidence that these beings of light have become so popular
commercially. Our prayers for heavenly assistance are being heard and it is now time for
us to accept the responsibility to heal ourselves, our lives, and our world.

The love, joy and peace of our higher self has been concealed by the experiences of this
world that have hurt and drained us emotionally and spiritually. Integrating angelic
processes alone or with Reiki, can help return us to our natural state of being. In addition
to guided meditation, prayer and candle ceremony, some other processes such as Etheric
Cord Cutting and White Light Clearing can have such a profound affect that some may
feel an immediate increase in energy and peacefulness. As a result, we find that life
becomes more fulfilling when we actually feel the love, joy and inner peace that is our true
nature.

Through the guidance and energy of Angels, Guides, and the Archangels, healing
vibrations are increased. This energy stream helps to release old patterns and heal
emotional wounds of the past. Purity, love, and light replace these patterns and allow us
to fully "live" our journey.

Colours of Angels (Attunement)

The Colours of Angels Attunement offers 7 connections with 7 Archangels and their
respective Rays. These 7 connections are given in one distance initiation that will connect
you more deeply to each Archangel. You will then be able to call upon any or all of these
Archangels much more easily and whenever you wish. Angels never leave or ignore you
and will listen to you whatever the time of day or night. As you are connected to each
Archangel you will also be connected to each Ray that the Archangel serves from and it's
respective color. By simply visualizing the color of each Archangel that you have been
connected to you will feel the connection strengthen. This is ideal for those who have
difficulty visualizing images as the simple task of visualizing the color is all that is required.

The Seven Archangels and Rays are as follows:

ARCHANGEL MICHAEL
Who serves in the First Ray which is the Blue Ray and the Ray of Protection and Power.

ARCHANGEL JOPHIEL
Who serves on the Second or Yellow Ray which is the Ray of Illumination and Wisdom.

ARCHANGEL CHAMUEL
Who serves on the Third or Pink Ray which is the Ray of Love.

ARCHANGEL GABRIEL
Who serves on the Fourth or White Ray which is the Ray of Harmony and Purity.

ARCHANGEL RAPHAEL
Who serves on the Fifth Ray or Green Ray which is the Ray of Healing.

ARCHANGEL URIEL
Who serves on the Sixth Ray or Gold Ray which is the Ray of Peace.

ARCHANGEL ZADKIEL
Who serves on the Seventh Ray or Violet Ray which is the Ray of Freedom.

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 31: Choose the Colors You Need
We all respond to color and scientists have discovered that each color sends a unique
message to the brain which affect our moods in different ways. Look at the chart below
and think about how your own clothes and decor can enhance particular moods.

Red: represents the body and is physically stimulating. Wear it for energy. Red can
encourage confrontation in others, so take care.

Yellow: related to your ego and your emotions. Good for increasing optimism and
creative confidence.

Orange: related to sex. Orange increase warmth, physical enjoyment and security. Wear
it to lift your love-life.

Green: represents natural healing and balance. Wear green to restore your energies
and inspire harmony in others.

Pink: links with our feminine, nurturing qualities. Wear it to attract some TLC.

Blue: corresponds to our intellectual side and is logical, calm and soothing. Good for
when you want to appear cool or when you want to do some serious thinking.

Purple: Represents spiritual awareness. Good for when you are looking inward and
thinking of higher things.

Make conscious use of color in your environment and when you choose your clothes, to
bring out the best in yourself.

Next Month: Suggestion 32: Increase Your Personal Power

Inspirational Poem:
The Be Attitudes

Be understanding to your perceived enemies.
Be loyal to your friends.
Be strong enough to face the world each day.
Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything alone.
Be generous to those who need your help.
Be frugal with that you need yourself.
Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything.
Be foolish enough to believe in miracles.
Be willing to share your joys.
Be willing to share the sorrows of others.
Be a leader when you see a path others have missed.
Be a follower when you are shrouded by the mists of uncertainty.
Be first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.
Be last to criticize a colleague who fails.
Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not tumble.
Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way.
Be loving to those who love you.
Be loving to those who do not love you; they may change.
Above all, be yourself.
