So...Why Go Organic?
Your Family's Health
According to the American Cancer Society and the EPA, 95% of the pesticides
used on residential lawns are considered possible or probable "carcinogen".
With all the problems associated with synthetic chemical, it makes sense to
use the least amount possible. By adopting an organic based program, the
focus is on improving soil and plant health so that the need for chemicals is
greatly reduced or eliminated.
Your Plant's Health
Chemical programs focus on sickness. First they encourage lush growth,
which can make the plants more susceptible to pest problems, and then they
apply chemicals to solve the pest problems. These chemical applications can
weaken or kill beneficial organisms in addition to killing the target pests. When
the pests return, they find a weakened plant and weakened predators. That's
when companies apply more chemicals. It becomes a downward spiral.
An organic program focuses on soil and plant health, not sickness. Using
organic approaches and materials helps to increase the plants natural
defense system, making chemical treatments less necessary. This is a
system that works with... not against nature. If a pest does get out of hand,
biologically and environmentally responsible methods can be taken.

Scott is a golf course superintendent at a high profile private country
club outside of Philadelphia. He became interested in an organic
approach several years ago, and since that time has worked steadily to
increase his connection with nature, while working to reduce overall
inputs both synthetic and natural. Through the years he has gained
much insight and experience that he loves to share with those around
him. Much of what he has learned challenges the traditional paradigms.
Those who attend his classes walk away with many new ideas that can be easily implemented,
as well as being very cost effective Other interests include alternative healing, dowsing, earth
energy work, holistic living, and having fun.
